In light of the Israeli Supreme Court ruling ordering the evacuation of Beit Hashalom, the joint committee has met.
The committee is comprised of representatives of the Hebron Municipality, the Jewish Community of Hebron, the local council of Kiryat Arba, residents of Beit Hashalom, Committee for Chomesh First, The Land of Israel Faithful, Youth on Behalf of Eretz Israel, Women in Green, the Action Committee, Veyarashtem Otah, Matot Arim and Keness Nahalal.
It was decided to fight against the uprooting of the residents of Beit Hashalom in particular, and for the right of Jews to settle everywhere in the land of Israel, in general.
Decisions:
1. Additional families and public personalities will move in to Beit Hashalom
2. MK Harav Nissim Zeev has announced that he will move his office to Beit Hashalom in the next few days
3. An emergency meeting to launch the struggle will be held Tuesday 20 Cheshvan (Nov. 18) at 8PM in the Sport Hall of Kiryat Arba. At the meeting, we will call upon the public to join us in the struggle.
In addition, an assembly of Rabbis was held during which Rav Eliezer Waldman of the Nir Yeshiva called upon all Rabbis to come and defend Beit Hashalom with their own bodies. Other rabbis joined Rav Waldman in his urgent call – see attached list (*).
The leaders of the Jewish Community of Chevron who are currently in the U.S.A. for the annual Chevron Dinner, have cancelled their participation in the Dinner and are coming back immediately.
Newly elected head of Council of Kiryiat Arba, Malachi Levinger, has cancelled his scheduled trip in light of the impending threat of uprooting.
